New leases put Constitution Square, Capitol Plaza at nearly 85% capacity

Chevy Chase, Md. JBG Rosenfeld Retail said that it has finalized leases with a number of new retailers for the Constitution Square and Capitol Plaza developments, both located in the NoMa section of Washington, D.C.

CVS/Pharmacy has committed to approximately 9,000 sq. ft. at Capitol Plaza, while TD Bank, Roti Mediterranean Grill, Tynans Coffee and Tea, and Georgetown Valet will join Harris Teeter, Constitution Cafe and Potbelly Sandwich Shop at Constitution Square. Constitution Cafe and Potbelly opened for business in May and September, respectively, while Harris Teeter is slated to open early in December.

“The NoMa neighborhood is, by far, one of the most exciting mixed-use neighborhoods in the District,” said JBGR executive VP Bob Schwenger. “And we are doing our part to enhance it with a variety of retailers that will provide the necessary services to the residents and business professionals in the area.”

TD Bank, Tynans, Georgetown Valet, Roti and CVS are under construction and scheduled to open within the next 60 days.

Comprised of a total of 2.4 million sq. ft. of space, Constitution Square is a two-phase development of Bethesda, Md.-based Stonebridge Carras. Phase one, which broke ground in 2008 and is adjacent to the New York Avenue Metro station, includes 1.6 million sq. ft. of office, residential, hotel and retail space.

Situated adjacent to Constitution Square and just one block from Metro, Capitol Plaza is a 12-story, 292,000-sq.-ft., mixed-use building owned by Polinger Shannon & Luchs of Chevy Chase, Md.
