Bentonville, Ark. Wal-Mart is hiring for 300 jobs at a location the company is planning to open this summer in Raeford, N.C.

Raeford is in a section of traditionally rural and poor Hoke County that is undergoing a population boon expected to bring 40,000 more residents to Hoke, nearly doubling the current population of 47,000, according to the Triangle Business Journal.

The growth is being spurred by the expansion of nearby Fort Bragg as part of the Base Realignment and Closure Act.
